Good Jobs, Good Wages Production workers in the aerospace industry earn higher pay than the average for all other industries. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, weekly earnings for production workers averaged $1,019 in aerospace product parts manufacturing in 2004 – that’s nearly $50,000 a year! Compare that with a weekly average of $659 in all other manufacturing industries and $529 in private industry, and you can see that aerospace salaries are very competitive. These above-average earnings reflect, in part, the high level of skills required by the industry and the need to motivate workers to concentrate on maintaining high quality standards in their work. Nonproduction workers, such as engineering managers, engineers and computer specialists, generally command higher pay because of their advanced education and training. |
